ADAMI IN ARMENIA


The ADAMI Media Prize conducted an official visit to the capital of Armenia. Communications Specialist Natia Koberidze travelled to Yerevan to meet with journalists and filmmakers. Natia made presentations on the ADAMI prize at the Armenian Youth Cinema Festival One Shot, and in the artist's club LOFT. During the visit, Natia met with Shushanik Mirzakhanian, Head of the National Cinema Centre of Armenia and Iveta Tonoian, Director of Kentron TV's Information and Political Department. Armenian colleagues showed their strong support for ADAMI's work and promised further cooperation to promote the ideas of the diversity-ideas of ADAMI. Armenian media outlets shared information about the 2018 media prize competition, and ADAMI looks forward to receiving a strong showing of submissions from Armenia this year.

ADAMI IN AZERBAIJAN

 

From May 18-20, members of the ADAMI Media Prize team conducted an official visit to the capital of Azerbaijan. ADAMI Director Stefan Tolz and project coordinator Nelly Mzhavanadze travelled to Baku to meet with representatives of both the President's administration as well as the parliament of Azerbaijan. The ADAMI representatives received a warm welcome from the heads of Azerbaijani television and by students and dean of the faculty of Baku University. Throughout the visit, Azerbaijani partners expressed enthusiastic support for ADAMI's work and promised further cooperation in promoting the ADAMI idea. Azerbaijani media outlets reiterated their intention to participate in the 2018 competition, and ADAMI looks forward to receiving a strong showing of submissions from Azerbaijan this year.

ADAMI NETWORKING IN TBILISI


ADAMI hosted a networking breakfast for participants of CinéDOC-Tbilisi on 8 May on the terrace of Restaurant Métis. Now in its sixth year, CinéDOC-Tbilisi launched on 3 May and is the Caucasus region's only international documentary film festival. The breakfast provided the ADAMI team with a unique opportunity to introduce the prize and establish relationships with young documentary filmmakers. ADAMI is an official partner of the CinéDOC-Tbilisi festival, and ADAMI Director Stefan Tolz is a jury member for the international competition. Representatives from the EU’s Eastern Partnership countries - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, and Georgia - all participated in this year's festival. ADAMI looks forward to continued cooperation with CinéDOC in its efforts to attract the attention of more film directors from participant countries.

COUNCIL OF EUROPE PATRONAGE


At the beginning of May, ADAMI received exciting news- the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Mr. Thornbjørn Jagland has once more decided to grant his patronage to the ADAMI Media Prize 2018 Gala ceremony.

Just a reminder - the event will take place on November 29 in Chisinau, Moldova.

ADAMI MARKS WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY IN BATUMI

 


The ADAMI Media Prize took part in a media conference to mark World Press Freedom Day, 3 May 2018 in Batumi. Regional public broadcaster Adjara TV hosted the meeting, inviting Georgian media and NGOs to discuss the safety of journalists. ADAMI Communications Coordinator Natia Koberidze presented to conference participants the details of the 2018 ADAMI Media Prize competition. Journalists, producers, and students reacted enthusiastically to the presentation. During the last ADAMI Media Prize competition in 2016, a representative of AjaraTV served as a member of the jury. ADAMI actively encourages submissions from Georgian regional media for this year's competition.

ADAMI IN BELARUS

In April ADAMI Project Coordinator Nelly Mzhavanadze and Competition Coordinatior Maka Chkhaidze visited Belarus. There they visited the Belorussian Media Exhibition where the ADAMI colleagues had the opportunity to network and create new ties with regional TV companies, journalists, and universities. ADAMI representatives met up with Belorussian State TV (BelTV) CEO Mr. Ivan Eismont and the CEO of ONT, Mr. Marat Markov. The ADAMI representatives discussed the ADAMI Media Prize rules and regulations during their meetings with journalists and executives of RFE/RL, online magazine Planet Belarus, Belarusfilm, BELAPAN, festivals Listapad and Perpentummobile, Tut Bai and others.
