ADAMI Media Prize announces Its six winners!

The ADAMI Media Prize for Cultural Diversity in Eastern Europe congratulates the winners of its 2018 competition. Six nominees - from Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine - were awarded at a gala ceremony in the Organ Hall, Chisinau, Moldova on 29 November.

The following are the winners of the 2018 competition: 


🔷ADAMI Media Prize for Information (Non-Fiction)
Soroca’s Bolshoi Theatre by Eugeniu Popovici, Produced by Mircea Sirdu. Broadcasted on TV Moldova 1, Moldova.
An entertaining documentary with great characters that show the life of Moldova’s Roma people in a new, positive light.

🔷ADAMI Media Prize for News and Short Non-Fiction
The Tower by Salome Jashi, Produced by Nino Lomadze, Indigo. Broadcasted on Pirveli TV, Georgia.
This short film without narration created by the journal Indigo is highly original; in four minutes it manages to convey the drama of people being evicted from their homeland.

🔷ADAMI Media Prize for Entertainment (Fiction)
Dear Friends
by Valeriu Andriuta, Produced by Iulia Andriuta. Broadcasted on Jurnal TV, Moldova.
The film with its unusual theme and wonderful humour touches on the complex relationship between old and new values for societies in transition. 

🔷Young ADAMI Media Prize
Penpals
by Nella Vasilevskaya, Produced by Andrey Kashpersky, Belarus.
A short, entertaining movie that is very professionally crafted, with bold and dynamic visuals and talented emerging actors. Penpals captures an essential topic for the youth of Belarus and beyond. 

🔷ADAMI Online Prize for Web Videos
Goran’s Rules of Life by Anastasia Slovinskaya, Giorgi Djaparidze, Toma Begiashvili, Zaza Shukvani, Radio Liberty / Ekhokavkaza.com, Georgia
This visually appealing short film introduces us to a man, Roma by origin, who lives without borders and is eager to share his life’s philosophy with its positive messages. 

🔷ADAMI Online Prize for Web Pages
Way Through Culture: Ethnic Tours of Kherson and Southern Ukraine

The colorful heritage presented on this web page immediately catches the viewer’s eye and offers insight into the history and cultural diversity of Ukraine’s Kherson region and Southern Ukraine. 

The 2018 gala ceremony was held under the auspices of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Mr. Thorbjørn Jagland; under the patronage of the Chairperson of the Parliament of Moldova, Mr. Andrian Candu and the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Mr. Harlem Désir. Mr. Désir and Valeriu Ghileţchi, Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova, also Honorary Guest, Mrs. MEP Rebecca Harms, Co-Chair of the EuroNest Parliamentary Assembly, the ambassador of Germany in Moldova Mrs. Angela Ganninger have given speeches and awarded the winners of ADAMI 2018.

In addition to the prize winners, this year ADAMI awarded Special Mention honors to five submissions:
